The world’s largest capacity external 2.5-inch mobile HDD from Fujitsu, which came with 300GB space, was increased up to 500GB.
Fujitsu Europe Limited released the new portable 2.5-inch HandyDrive for mobile professionals, offering a compact external hard disk drive with more than enough space for carrying media. It features a utility management designed to reduce the power consumption in standby up to 35%, and comes also with a new password lock tool for securing the data stored in addition to its shock-proof capability.
Specifications include 60MB per second data transfer rate, 8MB read/write buffer, USB 2.0 interface, 220 grams weight, and a size of 142 x 82 x 22 mm.
“With this 4th generation of external drives and our company’s special know-how gained through more than 40 years experience in hard disk drive design and manufacturing, Fujitsu is committed to provide ideal solutions for the expanding mobile storage market and users looking for portable HDD devices with higher capacities, compact designs, and advanced data security features,” says Georg Dietsch, Director of Fujitsu Storage Products Group in EMEA.
Fujitsu HandyDrive 500GB USB external drive will be available at the end of July at a starting price of 229 EUR, and other storage capacities available are: 160GB, 250GB, 320GB and 400GB.
Models up to 320GB have a rotational speed of 5,400 rpm and 191 grams weight, while the 400GB and 500GB versions feature 4,200 rpm, at 220 grams. All power via USB and are compatible with Microsoft Windows operating system up to Vista and Mac OS X 10.1 or later. On these, users can store work files, multimedia applications, photos, videos, MP3 music, temporary data backup, data exchange, data transport, and security solutions.
There are other computer peripheral manufacturers that provide 500GB external hard disk drives, such as Western Digital, Seagate, Maxtor, and LaCie, but none of them reaches 2.5 inches thin.
