How Digital Cameras Work

If you are wondering how digital cameras work, maybe we can shed some light upon the situation with this short article here. The digital camera was probably one of the best inventions since French fries. It is pretty simple to explain the basics about how digital cameras work. A digital image is composed of small colored dots which are generally called pixels and when they are added up, they form the picture that you took.

Just like you see in a conventional camera, a digital camera is also composed of lenses which can be focused to get a better picture of the scenery. Since regular cameras focus the light to get an image of the scene and then it is placed on a piece of film, the digital camera works a bit different. There is a computer that breaks the pieces of electronic information into digital data. I am sure that a lot of you have heard about digital camera resolution but what is this resolution and what is it useful for? Resolution is a term which stands for the amount of detail that a digital camera can capture. The most common types of resolution are: 256 x 256 (found on real cheap cameras), 640 x 480 (great resolution for e-mailing pictures), 1216 x 912 (good resolution for printing pictures), 1600 x 1200 (a high resolution), 2240 x 1680 (this is considered to be the current standard) and 4026 x 2704 (this is the resolution found on top of the line and expensive digital cameras). The higher the resolution, the more expensive the digital camera will be.

In the past years, digital cameras came with a fixed amount of storage space inside the camera where you could “pile up” all your favorite pictures. In our days, digital cameras come with some internal memory plus the possibility to expand that memory by using certain memory cards, depending on what your digital camera can support. Depending on the resolution supported by each camera and the resolution of the pictures taking, they can occupy less or more space on the memory available. When a picture has a lot of pixels, it will eat up a lot of free space. Most of the digital cameras available on the market will store your pictures in the JPEG file format.

One thing which is particularly curious is that when a digital camera takes pictures, it is basically colorblind. It cannot tell right from the beginning of it’s yellow or purple or orange. The camera will only keep track of the intensity of the light that strikes its surface. After that, the sensors will use filtering in order to look at the light in red, blue and yellow, the primary colors. The next step required the camera to record all those colors and combine them in order to create the full spectrum. Did you ever imagine that digital cameras could be this smart? There could be a lot more of explaining to do, but there are the basic things you should know about how digital cameras work.

Sansa Mp3 Player

The SanDisk e200 Sansa MP3 player certainly deserves to be called one of the coolest MP3 players in the whole world.  It comes in all storage space possibilities, like 2 GB, 4 GB or 6 GB of free space and it even comes with a 1.8 inch display and the possibility to expand the memory. The following words will surely convince you that when you are looking for a good MP3 player, the Sansa MP3 player is one candidate that should be taken seriously.

When you buy this player, inside the box you are going to find an USB cable, proper earphones, a software CD and even a protective pouch. Don’t you just love it when you get so many goodies inside a small box? The MTP feature will allow you to synchronize your player with the Windows Media Player 10 application. You will also get the included Sansa Media Converter software which is going to help you convert your favorite music videos and photos into the file type supported by this device. If there is another strong affirmation that we can make about this MP3 player is that is has a solid design. The back of the Sansa MP3 player is made of liquid metal which is quite a fingerprint magnet.

The display is beautiful, even if some users may consider it to be a bit too small. Surprisingly, when it comes to viewing angles, we have quite the opposite situation compared to what we get in the case of laptops. If laptops generally have great horizontal viewing angles, this MP3 player comes with great vertical viewing angles.

The controls on this player will respond very well once they are pressed.  The scrolling wheel is going to prove very useful when you have to scroll between hundreds of songs which you can store on this MP3 player. The user interface is very friendly and very responsive as well. When it comes to the battery of this player, we have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the battery can be replaced by the user. The sad part is that you should have a small screwdriver in handy in order to open the player at the back.

The great news is that it takes only 3.5 hours to fully charge the battery and on a full charge, it can resist up to 20 hours. In fact, 15 hours of playback and it is enough to get you over a long and boring airplane flight. This Sansa MP3 player comes with some great features like FM radio recording which allows you to record your favorite radio shows and even the tracks that you listen on the radio. Another cool feature is voice recording and, so far, we have 2 cool features which are not exactly to be found on any MP3 player. If you are interested in getting one of these little gadgets for yourself, you should now that the 4 GB versions of this MP3 player can be purchased from Amazon at the price of $88.49.

Coby Mp3 Player

The Coby MP3 player looked quite funny to me when I first saw it. I thought that at first it looked like a toy and then it appeared to be more of a cell phone. Anyway, the Coby MP3 player is one little fellow that has some Aces up his sleeve. No matter how you look at it, this MP3 player, which has a starting price of $29 is a cute little guy which may just become your new best friend. Don’t get me wrong, this is not even close to the best MP3 players which we have seen so far, but I'm sure that the small Coby MP3 player has its fans.

The Coby MP C700 series MP3 player is our main focus for this article. Unfortunately, it seems that this particular MP3 player is failing at pretty much every chapter except, maybe, for the design part. Could it be due to the fact that this MP3 player is way too cheap? By cheap I mean that the 2 GB MP C7092 model can be purchased for less than $80. There is not much to complain about when it comes to the design of this little gadget. It has pretty much the same size as the iPod Nano except for the fact that the edges are rounded. There is a 1.8 inch display and below it you will notice five-way control pad. The back of the player is host to the on and off switch which is quite an unusual place to located such a switch. There are also one mini USB port located on the bottom of the player, plus a 2.5 mm headphones jack located on the top.

This Coby MP3 player will not exactly offers us something to write home about. Another Coby MP3 player which is not very spectacular when it comes to features, but it is spectacular due to its $20 is the MP C827. There is no display on this player. In fact, it looks more like one of those USB memory sticks which you use to carry around your files. There are 3 buttons on this MP3 player. The bad part is that you must get used to the same buttons for different functions.

The skip button must be held down and it will then work as a volume button. The sad part is that this MP3 player only comes with 128 MB of included storage memory. It runs with the help of one AAA battery which comes included in the package. Speaking of what’s inside the package, you will also find one USB extension cable, a CD with drivers and a pair of earphones. I think that it is worth saving a couple of bucks and buy a $50 MP3 player which can offer you at least a decent display. It is not that this Coby MP3 player is bad or anything, it’s just that there are so many MP3 players out there which are better and they are not even that expensive.

Our cool ski gadgets list starts with the ColdAvenger, an ultra modern ski mask. We all know that when we are skiing on a mountain our face is the most exposed part of our body to the frigid temperatures. And we wouldn’t want to ruin out beautiful little faces with that, would we? The ColdAvenger is a modern cold weather mask which, even if it has a design inspired from Darth Vader, it will keep your face away from frost. It has a special ventilation system which mixes cold air (air you inhale) with warm air (air you exhale) to create an acceptable temperature inside the mask. If you want one of these, you can buy it for only $50. I know that many people will think they look ridiculous when they try this mask on at the shop, but I can assure you that the functionality of this thing is great as your health is, after all, the most important aspect.

Another interesting and useful accessory which needs to be mentioned in our cool ski gadgets list is the Ski Mojo System. This beauty is going to prevent some nasty ski accidents as I am sure that most of you were not exactly born or trained to be professional skiers. This gadget will keep your legs away from shocks offering a lovely absorbing sensation. Being a combination of hardware, this gadget looks very difficult to use but if you read the instruction manual you will notice that it is quite simple. Apparently, you will feel like having an extra pair of muscles. This gadget will increase your stability and it will even increase you power with up to %50. Sprint Cell Phone

Presented at the CTIA show in 2008, the Samsung Instinct S30 Sprint cell phone has been very appreciated by a lot of people because it offers many high-end features included in a stylish and beautiful handset.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

The Samsung Instinct S30 Sprint cell phone comes with the same design like its predecessor but with smaller dimensions. The Instinct S30 has a case made of resistant plastic (resists very well against scratches) which has 4.57 x 2.11 x 0.48 inches in dimensions and 3.88 ounces in weight. The Instinct S30 is available in two colors: copper and cobalt metal. These colors make the phone look more solid and compact. Even so, the Instinct S30 looks very nice and feels very comfortable in your hand. On the front side, it hosts a touch screen and below it, only three common keys: Call, End and Home keys. On the sides, the Instinct S30 comes with the same control buttons: a volume rocker, a camera shutter, a microSD card slot, a charger jack, a microUSB port and a Lock button.

For displaying images, the Samsung Instinct S30 Sprint cell phone is equipped with a 3.2 inch touch screen which has a native resolution of 240 x 432 pixels. Supporting 262K colors this display will offer great quality images with a great contrast and sharp colors. It is also very responsive even at the weakest touch.  For photography fans, the Instinct S30 comes with a 2 Megapixel camera armed with autofocus and self-portrait mirror. This camera is capable of taking pictures at a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1400 pixels but will offer mediocre quality pictures for a cell phone in our days. Because it lacks a LED flash, taking photos in a dark environment is impossible. This camera can record QVGA clips at a speed of 15 fps.

For connectivity the Samsung Instinct S30 Sprint cell phone is equipped with many high-end features. It comes with Bluetooth (HSP, HFP 1.5, DUN, OPP, FTP, PBA, A2DP and AVRC supported profiles), EV-DO, a 3.5 mm audio jack and microUSB port plus support for GSM, GPRS, EDGE and 3G networks. For internal memory, there are two models: 16 GB or 32 GB. With that huge internal memory you will be able to store all your favorite music, movies, pictures or other files without running out of free space. Like all mobile phones, the Instinct S30 comes with a lot of other usual features like Opera Browser, music player, movie player, JAVA support and email client. The external speaker is good, having a loud volume and offering clear sound. In the music player an equalizer is included which allows you to customize bass, treble and bass boost.

The battery life of this mobile phone is good. Equipped with a high-capacity 1000 mAh Li-Ion battery, the Instinct S30 manages to stay on for 4 hours and 40 minutes of conversations and up to 320 hours in standby mode. Anyway, considering that this cell phone has many high-end features we can say that these values are great for it. Even if is not one of the best mobile phones on the market, the Samsung Instinct S30 Sprint cell phone make a good impression thanks to its simple and compact design and many attractive features.
