The world we live in today is fully described by the word wireless, so I’m not sure if there’s a point for someone to own a landline these days. More than that, the times are very tough, as you probably know, economically speaking, so everyone should consider cutting costs as soon as possible. Because, after all, we already own a mobile phone, from parents to kids, so a landline seems to be one more luxury.

In the given context, Panasonic still believes in the power of such phones, as they decided to release the 7400 Series of DECT cordless phones. The KX-TG7434B model is the only one to come with a Choice Mail feature, which resembles the visual voicemail that is available on the iPhone. This feature gives you the chance to listen to the messages you’ve received irrespective of their order.

On the other hand, the Caller ID is another important feature that will tell who wants to get in touch with you, which means you won’t have to run to the place your phone is in order to know who’s calling. Not to mention the fact that each handset is equipped with the Silent Mode that the user can set on a timer. This way, you will never be woken in the middle of your dreams again.

I don’t know whether the Panasonic cordless phone sound impressive or not, but I suppose it will be difficult for such a device to make people forget about their cell phones and focus their attention on landlines. Anyway, the 7400 series is already available and the price varies from $70 to $150. It depends on the number of devices you’re willing to buy.

I discovered Ulysse Nardin a couple of days ago when I was writing about the company’s first cell phone ever built, called the Chairman. It was then when I found that I was dealing with a manufacturer that has a very long tradition when it comes to watches with complicated mechanisms.

This is a beautiful desk clock designed by Ulysse Nardin and it’s more like an astrological device than a genuine timepiece. As you can easily see, the clock comes with a spherical shape, imitating the Earth in the Universe and it’s able to show the exact position of the Sun, Moon and other important fixed Stars compared to any location that is placed on Planet Earth.

The transparent spherical globe, made of crystal, has the continents and the oceans outlined and it doesn’t move. You can see an inner sphere that represents the Universe, just the way you can see it from the Earth, and rotates in 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds. For those fascinated by our planet the period mentioned before is familiar, as it signifies a complete revolution of the Earth.



The Sun hand is animated from the center and rotates just once during a day (24 hours). It indicates where the Sun is in a certain period of time, meaning which parts of the Earth are illuminated by it. The Moon hand, on the other hand, rotates once in a larger period of time: 24 hours, 52 minutes and 42 seconds, and it indicates the parts of the planet where you can see the moon. As for the Dragon hand, it rotates with the zodiacal signs.

These Ulysse Nardin vintage desk clock will be available as part of a special edition, very limited, consisting of only 99 pieces. Unfortunately, the price is still unknown.
