Usually, wheelchairs are made for walking, for helping people who find themselves in the difficulty or the impossibility to move around walking. If you ask me, this is a device that human beings don’t like very much to become dependent on a wheelchair, because, most of the times, this means they have an illness, an injury or a disability. And it’s not very difficult to understand why such words don’t sound very good to a person who was born to walk, just like any other individual.

But life is unpredictable. You never know what might happen to you. You can be the most careful human being on the face of the Earth and still have to deal with a problem that leaves you no choice. So you get in a wheelchair. And all that you want is to make your mobility device look its best. I don’t know, this isn’t something very common, because when you’re in such a position, I suppose you kind of hate the device and you’re interested in it just because it helps you move.

But, for all of you out there who’d love to customize this utilitarian device, here’s a special wheelchair, which is undoubtedly a statement with respect to your fashion consciousness. I’m talking about the Swarovski-studded wheelchair, which is part of a very limited edition of 444 devices created by Rainer Küschall, a very well-known designer in the world of wheelchair. This guy is some sort of a guru, his creations being benchmarked when it comes to performant mobility.
K-Nova, because this is how this lightweight wheelchair is called, is encrusted with 219 crystals that are placed on the frame, on the bearing block caps, wheels and backrest. The wheelchair is available in glossy black or red frame with black or red CPS (meaning color power set) and it costs… Well, we don’t know, but I’m afraid that the Swarovski crystals will be an argument for a heavy price.

As if there weren’t enough iPhone accessories available in the market already, here is another one. It’s just that this one is a little bit more special than others, just because it allows the user to hear himself / herself. Don’t raise that eyebrow at me, I’m sure you’re aware of the fact that many human beings love their voices more than anything in this life, so recording themselves speaking words of wisdom / singing their favorite songs / talking nonsense makes a lot of… well… sense.

“Whether conducting an interview, taking lecture notes, or capturing the sounds of life happening around you, simply attach this Mini Capsule Microphone to your device for immediate voice recording capacitiesâ€. This means that the small microphone can be used for other purposes also, besides the self-centered ones (read it as egocentric, not selfish, please!).

The device is compatible with the iPhone, the iPod Touch 2G, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Nano 4G and iPod Classic 120G. If you own one of the first two iPods, then you’ll need to install the appropriate recording software and you can choose from iTalk Recorder or the Easy Recorder, for example. If, on the other hand, you have the latter two, the small microphone works by only using Plug & Play.
The best thing about the Mini Capsule Microphone is the fact that is affordable for all budgets, as it is sold on Brando for a price of only $12.90.

It seems that people are more and more interested in wrist phones, so designers from all over the world and cell phones manufacturers are keen on meeting their expectations. This is the reason why the market is invaded by such concepts. Maybe “invaded†isn’t the right word to use, because most of these devices are just in the concept phase. Maybe “threatened†is more appropriate.

In the given context, here we have another wrist watch phone that is designed to compete with the LG G910, the wrist phone that was announced to hit the European market via Orange.

Because the attempts were so far unsuccessful, only LG managing to actually do something in this area, designer Pedro Gomes wants to solve the problem somehow. Because, so that you know, your wrist isn’t a soulless friend and it would really like to have something special to adorn it.

Now, here’s what the concept is all about. The idea is to have a secondary LCD display attached to a bracelet that is able to tell you the time and to act like a phone. Whenever someone gives you a call, the bracelet has two options to choose from: it either rings or vibrates. Or both. And when the call comes to its end, the LCD screen goes back to the second thing it does best: telling time. Because the display is touch-enabled, you can accept or reject the calls you receive by only using the bracelet.

In addition, the wrist watch phone will be equipped with a Bluetooth headset, also provided with a touch-enabled LCD display.
Great idea, too bad it’s just a concept.

I don’t remember the cartoon fishbones. I don’t have a clue about something like this, but it seems that someone had the idea of modeling a USB hub after them. It is probably a very good idea for all of you out there, crazy about weird shaped gadgets.

Just like the name suggests, the device is shaped precisely like a fishbone, being designed to look very stylish on anyone’s desk. The hub is provided with 4 USB ports, allowing the user to plug in his / her favorite gadgets into it. A great thing about it consists of the fact that it doesn’t restrain you as far as the size of the gadgets is concerned, leaving, will all four of them being used, enough free space.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
Now, as for the features, they include: USB 2.0 high speed 4 port hub, hot-swappable Plug & Play connection and a blue LED indicator. Measuring 90 x 44.5 x 14 millimeters and weighing approximately 25 grams, the weird shaped hub is compatible with Windows Vista, XP, ME and 2000.

If you’re interested in the best USB hub (best looking, maybe), maybe you should try the Fishbone Hub, which is available for no more than $10 from USB Geek. If it doesn’t prove to be the best, it will at least drive you kitty crazy, keeping the little creature busy while working on your important projects.

But not for any type of travel. And you’ll see in the following sentences the reason for me to say something like this. Just have a little patience and allow me to make my introduction.
When seeing how designers they trouble their heads about revolutionizing the evolution of design, you don’t find it unusual or outrageous. They’re entitled to do so, because, after all, this is their job, right? But what’s uncommon is the fact that an astronaut seems to be as inspired as those who are expected to design all sorts of products.

Donald Pettit is just a normal guy who loves his morning coffee more than anything in this world (or almost anything and who had some trouble with drinking the miraculous beverage out in the space, during the Space Shuttle mission STS-126. Desperate and frustrated, he invented something to help him do what he usually did when being down on earth. And here we have the On-Orbit Coffee Cup, a “travel coffee mugâ€, which isn’t aimed at all of you out there, unless you plan to spend your vacation up in the stars.
<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->
Based on Pettit’s concept, designer Travis Baldwin was the one who made this coffee mug becoming reality. Practically, this guy offered himself to help the astronaut turn the design into a real product. This way, astronauts will have the chance to experience the magic of a cup of coffee, even if they aren’t here, on earth. As you can figure it out for yourselves, the device was designed to hold the liquid inside in conditions described by zero gravitation.
Quite interesting, isn’t it?
