NS01, a new Kyocera cell phone

People usually tend to be very protective as far as their personal things are concerned, which is, if you think about it, understandable. After all, it’s in the human nature to taking care of what we own, which implies some sort of a responsibility that gives us confidence and the feeling that there’s something that we should fight for.

Cell phones do not make an exception, and there is no doubt about. More than that, being so carefully chosen, they tell a story about the person who owns them, so this is why they want to keep them as safe as possible.

Now, talking about safe devices, the new Kyocera cell phone, known under the name of NS01, is what you can call a leech that sticks to someone no matter the things that might happen. And why is that? Well, it’s due to the belt the phone is attached to, which is quite unusual, giving you the chance to wear it around your waist.

As far as the features are concerned, NS01 is a simple clamshell cell phone that comes equipped with a 2.8 inch QVGA display, a 2 megapixel camera, an e-wallet support and microSDHC card slot. One feature that people can be very happy about is the e-wallet function, as we tend to give more and more importance nowadays to the financial aspects of our lives.

Even if there are not, for the moment, details about pricing and availability, the Kyocera cell phone will surely become available, at some point, in Japan. So, Japanese out there, prepare yourselves for a brand new affordable device! Just don’t hold your breath up until that moment!

Miniature video camera hidden in a pen

Remember television mystery series like “Murder, she wrote”, “Colombo”, “Poirot”, that people were so enthusiastic about providing them with a spectacular popularity? Well, I don’t about you, but I’m kind of stuck with their memory, as those TV series left a great mark on my personality, converting my adolescence into some sort of a permanent clues hunting.

My ears heard it all, my eyes saw quite more than I was eager to see, and my brain was always ready for solving mysteries that no one cared very much about. And I’m sure that a miniature video camera hidden in a place kept from other people’s eyes would have been the greatest help in my daily adventures. Just like the new SAS Pen Cam, which is a small spy camera disguised as a working pen, being perfect for what detectives are supposed to do: covert surveillance.

Therefore, the SAS Spy Pen is the solution you were looking for if you need a spy camera that you can clip onto your clothes or just leave it with other writing instruments that you have, so you can keep an eye on people when not being around.

If you are familiar with this area, then you most probably know that this isn’t a first, but I’m sure you haven’t seen before a similar device with an internal memory of 2GB, being able to store approximately 15 hours of both video and audio footage.

As far as the features are concerned, they include: AVI video format, a resolution of 352 x 288 CIF, a read / write speed of 2M~5M per second, video file size of approximately 2MG per minute, a working time of about one hour of recording after you fully charge it, a Lithium-Ion battery and USB 2.0. The $104 SAS Spy Pen is compatible with Windows 98 SE/ME/2000/XP, Mac OS X and Linux.

Color Picker, a smart pen that “reads” colors

A friend of mine once told me that the brain of a man is somehow limited to recognize less colors than the one of a woman, this being the reason why us, girls, we talk about weird hues, such as turquoise or cyclamen, causing wry faces to our loved ones. They claim they don’t understand what in earth we’re trying to say while we can’t conceive the fact that a human being is not able to tell colors.

The truth is that individuals see the world outside in a very personal way, being influenced by all sorts of factors that aren’t similar to those of another person. Therefore, in the given context, what would you say about this bright new idea, an ink pen that is so smart that it is actually able to read the color of any object that is placed in front of it? Good God, this makes it smarter than the bearer himself, if I may say so.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

And I didn’t tell you everything yet: when recognizing the color, the Color Picker (‘cause that’s how it’s called this concept) does even more than just figuring out what color a certain object is. The pen automatically mixes red, green and blue (three additive primary colors) inks in order to create the color it has just scanned. The inks are stored in a cartridge placed inside the pen.

This is a pretty impressive idea, you have to admit, but, unfortunately, Color Picker, the smart pen that “reads” colors, is still in the concept phase. And there’s no word about ever becoming reality.

Creative portable media player looks like an UFO

There are quite a few questions that are raised by the picture below, due to the fact that it shows a weird object with an unknown identity. First of all, what in earth is that bright and shiny device, and second of all, why does it look like an UFO? Because you can’t contradict my opinion, (and not just mine, as you’ll see a little bit later) that it’s like a miniature unidentified flying object.

Another question is related to the manufacturer, mobiBlu, which wasn’t supposed to still create portable media players. If you know, for example, the MobiBLU DAH-1500i, which is also known under the name of the “Cube”, “the world’s smallest fully functional player at 24 mm (0.94inch) cubed”, then you must know that the company was focused on devices equipped with impressive features.

<-300x250 Medium Rectangle - center->

As you can figure it out for yourselves, the A10 UFO model is all about its “silhouette”. The curved edges give this UFO a very unique look, quite elegant as a matter of fact, defining a small portable media player with a diameter of only 3.5 inches.

The creative media player is available in two colors, black and red, both very glossy, as you can see for yourselves, and are equipped with features like Bluetooth, support for a wide range of file formats, such as MP3, WMA, ASF and OGG, headphone jack, an integrated battery and an internal memory of 2, 4 or 8 GB. A disappointing aspect is the battery life, which is said to be of only 15 hours. Compared to other MobiBLU devices, it’s quite depressing to know that you have to charge it so often.

I can’t say that the UFO isn’t a creative portable media player, because it is, but as cool as it looks, I’m sure we won’t get to enjoy it very soon.
