And they shall never be quiet again

And they shall never be quiet again
Whether we have something worthy of people’s attention to say or not, many of us just love the public speaking. It might be the fully understandable desire of sharing thoughts and events or the belief that one human being’s experience can turn into a great help for those who are willing to listen to. And then we talk, and talk, and we forget to shut up, and the seasons change, and we’re so very into it, almost screaming at the top of our lungs, even if there’s no one listening to what we have to say.

There might also be the case of an emergency, a sudden crisis, when we must lead people around us, reassure them and inspire them. It’s when the strength of our spirit should make a statement about who we really are. And when you find yourself in the middle of nowhere and you’re in the position of improvising a speech to the crowd, the Orator’s Briefcase PA System will be the real manna, adding a significant level of professionalism to your words and ensuring that everyone in a block’s radius will hear your message thanks to a 20-watt amplifier and dual 4-inch speakers.

A very useful and handy accessory, especially for politicians, in the election seasons, the briefcase opens up and reveals a microphone and a document holder, converting itself into a lectern and battery powered public address system in just seconds. In other words, you have right in front of you a convenient platform, the perfect background for you to have your presentation materials organized and the lectures amplified. The built-in sound system is provided with a 20-watt amplifier and 4-inch speakers that produce crisp sound from the briefcase’s front panel and ensure the clarity of the speech. The 14" by 15" lectern props up the briefcase and accommodates legal pads and note cards.

If you’re concerned about the microphone, you should not worry at all, because the system is provided with two options: a 3/4 lavaliere model that clips to a tie or lapel which allows you to step into the crowd and a handheld condenser microphone with nine feet of cable. The control panel is set on the side of the briefcase and enables tone and volume adjustments. The 13-inch gooseneck arm is attached to the briefcase also and adapts the handheld microphone at your height. The components are all stored inside the briefcase, leaving enough space for you to keep there your documents.
The security of the system is also taken care of through an attach combination lock, meanwhile the line-out ports ensure the connection to external speakers and a tape recorder.

The Orator’s Briefcase PA System can be powered by eight C batteries (which are not included) for up to four hours of use, but you can also plug it into AC power.
If you like to acquire it, you can do this from Hammacher Schlemmer for $349,95. From now on, no one could ever stay in the way of your freedom of speech.

LEGO Lamp

LEGO Lamp

I grew up playing with LEGO bricks, and every time I see something related to LEGO I get all nostalgic. I’ve seen all sorts of stuff made of LEGO bricks, even a huge bolder comprising 1 million bricks. Now here’s something more useful that looks to be a lamp.

The LEGO block lamp includes a set of industrial-strength blocks made of heat resistant material, so they won’t mess up when you leave the light bulb turned on. Wait, is the light bulb made of LEGO bricks too? Guess not… Oh well, at least you have those cool transparent blocks that you can rearrange in any configuration your mind would fancy.

According to Technabob, the kit comes with 219 small, 16 medium, and 4 large heat-resistant clear acrylic blocks which are supposed to work well with a 40-watt light bulb. If you feel like you can’t really come with a cool design for you lamp, just leave that it to your kids. They’ll have fun and you’d be using the lamp in no time.

RED5 has the LEGO lamp for approximately $45 USD. RED5 only supplies the kits with 240-volt power cords so you might want to buy a power transformer and an appropriate light bulb in case you are from the North American countries.

HomeStar Planetarium Projector

HomeStar Planetarium Projector

There are millions of billions of stars in the observable Universe, yet we only get to see a tiny fraction of them on a clear night sky. Since the Earth is protected by its own atmosphere, the conditions for stargazing are not always appropriate and that’s why astronomers have built special facilities on top of high mountains. I, for one, am pretty preoccupied with the latest discoveries in astronomy and astrophysics, but I certainly can’t access an astronomical facility whenever I please. However, there’s a solution to my stargazing needs, and it’s known as the HomeStar Planetarium Projector.

This unique projector should enable astrofans like me to view over 10,000 stars right at home. The projector integrates a crystal-clear, rotating field of 10,000 stars based on ultra-bright white LEDS and projects it on your ceiling or wall. Every once in a while the projector may also project a random streaking meteor across you room.

According to Coolest Gadgets, the Planetarium Projector features a slick spherical design which is motorized to move the star map at the same speed the real stars blaze across out skies. HomeStar provides two HD images of the northern and southern hemisphere skies and the user is able to adjust the projection angles in order to display the star fields on either the walls or ceilings.

You can order one of these from Amazon for $130.53.

My watch doesnt like Moscow. But I do.

My watch doesnt like Moscow. But I do.

You’ve just arrived to Saint-Tropez and you’re looking forward to an exciting holiday on the French Riviera, amongst famous and healthy guests. You’re wearing your expensive clothes, feeling like a million dollars, and you’re wandering around with five different watches on the wrist. Still, you do not know what time it is and you have to ask people around you, making a fool of yourself. Yes, it’s a very awkward situation, you can say that again, but it was you who acquired Diesel’s quintuple-faced watch.

The watch has five different faces to handle five different time zones/airports. Therefore, you’ll have the time for Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris and Tokyo and anytime you visit those places, time won’t be an issue for you.
But what if you’re not the stereotypical kind of traveler and you can’t predict which city you’ll be landing in the next couple of weeks? What if you just want to go somewhere else, somewhere far from those five mentioned cities, and, contrary to all reason, you pretend to know the time? Well, Diesel has an alternative for you too: a smaller and daintier watch of the same type which allows you to memorize which face corresponds to which place, instead of having them labeled. Everything you have to do is to just keep in mind which one is which.

Another disadvantage is the fact that, having five faces, each face must be really small, because there are so many of them. On the other hand, the whole watch is ridiculously large and the irony you’ll be producing when asking the time will most certainly be directly proportional to the size of the watch.
If you decide to acquire such a watch, you must be fully aware of the consequences: there is a very high possibility of you being laughed at more often than you have ever been before. Or, if you embrace an extravagant and crazy attitude, you will care less about what people say and you will proudly wear your watch, even if you’re in Moscow and your wrist is inexplicably covered.

The watch is available for $550, the larger silver watch, or $495, the smaller unlabeled watch.
