Portable PC Theatre Concept

Portable PC Theatre Concept

For those of you who like to impress people with sophisticated PowerPoint presentations, here’s a concept design that could give you the edge when your company needs to pull an important join-venture. Forget about carrying you notebook and the projector separately. This cool concept merges the two into a more compact solution.

According to Ubergizmo, It is known as the portable PC theatre concept, and it combines a full-fledged multimedia PC and a 5.1 surround sound movie system that allows you to make stylish presentations as well as let you enjoy your favorite movies anytime, anywhere. All you need to have handy is a power outlet. Well, you could be using a notebook battery but that won’t last for more than an hour with this hybrid.

If you’re suspecting the projector might be causing some heating problems inside the unified casing, you can always detach it and place it on something firm. Unfortunately, the designer didn’t mention any possible specs for the two devices, not to mention that the design might never get commercialized. I guess the PC can pack enough processing power to end up as a great HTPC, and the projector could integrate the latest technology that enables palm-sized projectors to deliver good enough image quality while still retaining a small-form factor.

Ultrasone PRO 900 Headphones

Ultrasone PRO 900 Headphones

Ever heard of Ultrasone? I have to admit I haven’t heard of these guys. But hey, they are from Germany and that alone settles the quality issue. The company specializes in sound devices and one of their latest products announced is the PRO 900 headset which incorporates the S-Logic technology.

The press release informs that the PRO 900 features closed-back headphones that boast a classic black design, velvet covered black and silver ear pads and a diamond-cut logo insignia. Two unique features that will certainly improve sound quality are the new 40mm titan-plated driver and a soft USC-Cable that is paired with Neutrik connectors. The headphones also contain MU-Metal shielding (ULE technology) that reduces the amount of radiation directed to the listener by up to 98%, as compared to conventional headphones. Furthermore, the PRO 900 comes in a hard-sided carrying case along with two removable cables (one spiral and one straight) and spare ear pads.

The S-Logic Plus technology integrated in the PRO 900 headphones allowed Ultrasone to reproduce a large soundstage with a more streamlined ear-cup. This sophisticated new technology combines precision dampening with micro-acoustic reinforcement, allowing driver, buffer-board, and spatial parameters to complement one another in an optimal manner. The result is a most neutral sound impression with more vivid perception of voices and instruments.

Here are some specs for the PRO 900 headphones:
• S-Logic™ Plus Natural Surround Sound
• Dynamic principle
• Frequency range 6-42k Hz
• Impedance 40 Ohm
• Sound pressure level 96 dB
• Driver 40 mm Titanium Plated
• Weight 295 g (without cord)

This is a high-end headset and it is expected to be available in September for $599.00.

Portable USB Humidifier

Portable USB Humidifier

This is a portable anion humidifier available at SourcingMap, a worldwide online provider of cool gadgets offered at the smallest prices directly from their manufacturers. It was designed to look exactly like a soda can and comes in a small form factor, being made of hard plastic with chrome plate and blue finish. It has a cool look and comes at a price of about $30.

It is not a standard home air humidifier, but it combines a fun design with useful functionality and the latest technology, to provide enough humidity in your room or office so you to breathe a healthy air especially during hot summer days when the air humidity lowers significantly.
The can-shaped mini anion humidifier uses the USB technology to connect to your computer in the office or at your home, via a free USB port. This way you can use it without batteries anywhere in rooms, with your portable notebook computer.

Featuring the anion technology, the device purifies the air in the room, eliminating toxic substances like dust, odors and molds, which are the main cause of strong allergies. It produces 50ml per hour humidification.
The Anion technology works by producing active oxygen molecules that release their negative electric charges, improving metabolism and relieving fatigue. It also protects your eyes with the negative ion connected with positive charge, which reduces the static radiation.

The soda can-shaped humidifier weighs 283 grams and comes with a 1.5 meter cable, requiring just 2W of power to function. It brings with 3 absorbent sticks of 7.6 cm in lengths and 1.2 cm in diameter.

Anion technology is nothing new on the market but seems that many famous companies trust it and plan to use it in their upcoming products, and an example is the MSI PR620 notebook, which will be enabled with this functionality, to deliver the pure air from the woods right into your home, even if you live in the most polluted area.

Latest Sony Concepts

Latest Sony Concepts
Yesterday at IFA 2008, the world's largest consumer electronics trade fair that took place in Germany, Sony held a press conference where we had the chance to discover 4 world’s first products and its latest ECO product concepts which we will see today.

Promoting a sustainable lifestyle involving environmental-friendly electronic devices, the company designed several innovative customer gadgets to provide a general idea of how the next-generation devices will look like and function.
The dye-sensitized solar cells use will enable photosensitive dyes that convert the light energy into electrical energy without requiring large vacuum process machines during the manufacturing process, which will involve low costs. The energy produced is sufficient and the power generated will be strong even indoors, where the lighting conditions are not strong.

An impressive concept is the bio battery that uses glucose’s enzymes to generate electricity, by simulating power generation principles found in living organisms. The first prototype was presented last year demonstrating how it can power a Walkman for music playback. Glucose can be found in very large quantities around the globe and has a high concentration. Sony believes it will become a base energy source in the near future.

odo is a concept design products family consisting of 5 devices that could use kinetic energy, and here we have a digital picture camera, a picture/video viewer, stereo headphones and a solar battery.
The energy powering such devices would be generated by the user’s movements and would be destined to teach children about the ecological responsibilities. Users have to move and rotate the devices in order to produce electricity, while these are made of a special plastic material based on plants. More exactly, this type of plastics polylactic acid, which was approved for using in food containers.

Digital Binoculars with Camera

Digital Binoculars with Camera

I’d say it’s no use to have binoculars without digital zoom and why not without a built-in digital camera for pictures. Why would I use such a travel gadget if I can’t manipulate the zooming and have to look through it always from the same distance? If the army professionals use advanced binoculars then we, the civilians, should search for a better alternative that’s lightweight, small and with some advanced built-in capabilities at the same time.

It doesn’t have infrared night vision and was designed to magnify up to 8x22 but it also features one of the coolest gadgets that everyone owns today – a built-in digital camera. Using such binoculars it gives you the possibility to capture all of the perfect images you manage to find during trips, and keep only those you prefer. This way you won’t have to struggle to memorize and tell the others how the view from the mountains was, but to show them directly.

These binoculars with digital camera come from Celestron, a manufacturer and designer of high-quality optical products such as digital telescopes, binoculars and microscopes. Included in the VistaPix series, the gadget sports a gold rubberized construction, support for tripod, and has plug-and–play capability for mass storage without requiring any software installation.
With it you can even record videos in VGA resolution or just take pictures on the go at up to 640 x 480 pixels, capturing at the magnification level seen through the lens.

You can zoom landscapes up to 8x and use the continuous shoot mode to take sequences of images and not miss anything.
When you’re back home or if you have a laptop with you, after transferring all the media in the computer you can adjust it using the PhotoImpression 4 and Fun house software.

The digital binoculars with camera from Edmund Scientific’s have an affordable price of $45.
