Plant Pot

How long till we acquaint our pretty flowers and plants with the latest computer tech? Looks like somebody already came with a funny way to let plants interact with computers in order to let us know how they feel and what they need. Junyi Heo is proud to present his 21st Century plant pot.

<-234x60 Half Banner - left->The pot is filled with sensors measuring temperature, soil moisture and all this stuff, and informs you about each of these aspects on a display with a mix of emoticons and symbols. This way you stay in touch with your plants, knowing exactly what they want. The pot is clever enough to drain itself if you somehow forget about this little detail over the days. It charges via USB, also sending its data to your PC for a detailed report on the plant’s status.

Now, I ask… why do they have female and male faces? From what I know, plants don’t have a specific gender. Maybe these were included for an eventual pot mating? Like, if you put two pots of different genders close enough, some digital spark goes off and the pots go all crazy for one another and the plants inside them intertwine their stems and leaves? Just a thought…

Cool Gifts

Cool Gifts

The Novelty Gift Company is a leading supplier of the world’s most famous online retailers, providing them with unique gadgets, one of which I am showing you now.
From the Cool Gifts series shows up the Mystic Egg.
<-125x125 Button - left->
This type of gift is similar with those eggs that hide cool surprises like toys or jewellery, but in our case it’s about a live surprise, and it works like this:
You get the transparent glass with the egg inside and make a gift. The person who received it has to water the egg and will have the first surprise after about 4 hours, when the egg cracks out and a bean starts to grow from it. Ina week or two, after the leafs develop completely, the beam that you see in the picture will reveal a hidden message, and this is the second surprise.

The cool part is that when you order this gadget, you can choose the message to be displayed. If you’ll make a gift to the one you love you can choose an “I love you!” or maybe a “Happy Birthday!” message for a friend.

Cam-Trax

Nintendo’s Wii has already become one of the best selling consoles of all time due to its innovative control system. Microsoft wants to have something close to the wiimote for their Xbox360 consoles and PS3 tried to implement similar features in the 6axes controller. But aren’t we forgetting something? How about our trusty PC?

Good news for us PC-only owners! Cam-Trax Technologies one came up with a special software solution that could transform PCs into viable console alternatives. Cam-Trax supplies a unique patented software solution that can track any object in real-time with high reliability and precision, using any simple webcam. This provides users with a new and exciting way to interact with PCs. Apparently, you can transform regularly shaped graspable object into a controller, providing some hilarious moments when playing simple games such as pong or solitaire. You can even play FPS games like Unreal Tournament just by using two fingers, as shown in this demo clip:

The Cam-Trax website is not that info-filled for the moment and we expect some more details as soon as possible. Cam-Trax has some huge potential here, so it would be interesting to see just how far the technology is able to go.
