Posted by: Bogdan Alex in News

Sony and Toshiba released the smallest 1080p camcorders in the world a couple of weeks ago, but that resolution amounts to at most 2.1 Megapixels. Now RED comes along and releases a slightly bigger camera that sports a resolution close to 4.5 Megapixels.
The robust camera is known as Scarlet 3K and it integrates a 2/3-inch Mysterium X sensor. This sensor allows it to shoot at up to 120 FPS, with the possibility to record everything on dual CompactFlash cards. The camcorder is also capable handling up to 100MB per second of REDCODE RAW HD video. It’s got a 4.8†LCD so you can preview your shot s, and there's a 8x RED zoom lens included. Connectors such as HMDI, HD-SDI, FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 will sure prove handy for amateurs and experts alike, while the camcorder is compatible with the entire RED ONE array of accessories.
A feature that sets this camera apart is the integrated WiFi control. Here’s a list with some other notable features:
• 180FPS in BURST MODE
• Full Auto or Full Manual Shooting Modes
• STILL MODE
Scarlet 3K is expected to be available in early 2009 and it is supposed to cost around $3,000.
