Good news for MySpace users!
Starting November, they will be able to talk on the phone through the service provided by the new partnership between MySpace and Skype, the MySpaceIM, based on VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).
The company said that MySpace users will not have to download any additional software for using the service, and they’ll also have the possibility to set their profile to Private if they don’t want to receive Skype calls from people out of their friends lists.
They can even prescreen incoming callers and block any Skype call or user they want.
Another thing they can do is to link their MySpace profiles and avatars to their accounts on Skype.
Chris DeWolfe, cofounder and CEO of MySpace said that "Skype has the leading technology in Internet voice communications and an enormous international user base that we're thrilled to connect with our existing community.
Our network has no geographical boundaries -- Internet calling is the natural next step for how our members communicate with each other."
According to the latest statistics, MySpace has over 110 million active users monthly, while Skype has more than 220 million registered users.
The Australian rock group, AC/DC is now happy after having obtained their own domain, acdc.com.
Acdc.com was formerly a website used by a porn promoting company which has been using the domain in redirecting AC/DC fans in searching for some news about the group, to very obscene sites, full of kinky stuff.
AC/DC was advised to get the domain for image promotion, after realizing that even if the group was formed in 1973, the majority of their fans are still young people, teenagers.
This statistic is sustained also by the label manager, Sam Horsburgh, who declared:
"The young fans are so net savvy it's the first thing they do.
The push to get it back came predominantly because they knew there were a lot of younger fans coming through."
One of the band’s members said also:
"Feel free to visit us from work, school or, for long-time visitors to the site, from the usual privacy of your basement."
October 4 was the last date when the site was updated, as the whois records for the domain name show.
On the same date, AC/DC released Plug Me In, a collection of live concerts on 5 discs.
After Google 411, now its Microsoft’s Live Search 411 turn to hit the stage of directory inquiry services.
Similar like in Google’s version, the US citizens have now access to the free service that provides for free the information requested about weather, movies or airline tickets, through the phone lines.
Users with Internet access phones, can get links to traffic maps.
The difference is of course, the phone number you have to dial at, and in this case is: 1-800-CALL-411 or 1-800-225-5411.

US are privileged to be the first to use the free directory enquiry service from Google.

The standard 411 directory service has now a free alternative called Google 411, through which an operator can find business’ phone number and connect to the caller for a fee, the voice-recognition software replacing human operators.
By calling the number 1-800-4664-411 (1-800- GOOG -441), users are requested for a state, city, zip code, and then they receive a list of options to be dialed automatically.
The results of their query can be received also via SMS, or displayed as points on Google maps, if the users have smartphones.
The experimental period started in April is about to end and the service is ready to be made available.
In order to minimize the concerns of the critical media content providers, Google adopted new strategy against video piracy for the popular YouTube website.
In the reviewers’ view, the new Google system called YouTube Video Identification is laudable, though all are expecting to see how efficient it will prove itself to be. Viacom Inc., the American media conglomerate, will identify the content on the website and will control the way in which it will be made available, this way becoming more accurate the identifying of potentially infringing videos.
At the products tests, important companies have assisted, including Time Warner Inc. and Walt Disney Co., and Mike Fricklas, general counsel of Viacom, declared:
"We're delighted that Google appears to be stepping up to its responsibility and ending the practice of profiting from infringement."
If you remember, Viacom had filled copyright-infringement class-action lawsuit against YouTube, claiming $1 billion, but since Monday, when Google made the announcement and until this moment, there are no court records of a give-up to this litigation.
