1,200 eBay Users had their Private Account Details Exposed to the Public

1,200 eBay Users had their Private Account Details Exposed to the PublicHow brazen can you be to expose to the large public, personal information of 1,200 people, all being eBay members?

Among the information which appeared for approximately an hour on an official forum dedicated to online fraud prevention, were home addresses, phone numbers, credit card numbers, CVV2 numbers, usernames and e-mail addresses.
Anyone who was visiting the forum in that short period of time had seen the private data.

A script made so that users to log in and post information associated with the person who owned the account, the script spitting out 15 posts per minute.

To exculpate eBay, one of their spokeswomen declared that all this is actually hackers’ takeovers of accounts and not a security breach.
eBay started to take measures immediately.

Google Confronting With a new Security Flaw

Google Confronting With a new Security Flaw

Google Confronting With a new Security FlawA new warning about a security flow in Google’s Gmail accounts has just been made public.
This issue follows the recent vulnerabilities discovered in Google e-mails, pictures on Picasa application and the website.

Now it is about a flaw which allows backdoor’s intrusion in Gmail accounts.
Who do you think that had discovered this?
Again Petko D. Petkov.
It seems that the guy is always with the eyes on this kind of problems.

He says that the backdoor installs after luring the victim logged in Gmail, to a specially crafted website which uses multipart/form-data POST to write a filter to Gmail causing all email with attachments to be forwarded to collect@evil.com.

Google is investigating this, according to one of their spokesmen.

Super DVD Creator 9.5 Review

Super DVD Creator 9.5 Review

Super DVD Creator iconI was looking for some nice DVD images on Google when I stumbled upon a screenshot of a piece of software called Wise DVD Creator – these days some pieces of software look so alike that it is confusing the user at times. Apparently, the original software that was the source of inspiration was Super DVD Creator from Master Soft. The interface looks pretty sleek and that is why I had a closer look at the software.

main interfaceMaster Soft has also created the Super DVD player that I have reviewed some time ago, and I remember I wasn’t very much impressed with that interface, while in this case – they did quite a good job. Of course, I didn’t even get to see the application running before I pressed the “next time” button from the popped up registration window: hey, I think it is fair I should to see first what this program can do for me before I buy it!

general options subtitle options burner options

Moving on to the functions: from the main interface you can select one of the 5 options: adjusting the settings, working with DVD Disc Builder, VOB converter, DVD Compiler or Disc Burner. In the settings panel, you can choose the image ratio, video format, the DVD menu duration and safe distance, DVD language setup and subtitles options, while in the Burner section you will have to choose the software driver that will facilitate the process of saving the data on DVDs (each setting being well explained in the menu).

adding videos selecting the aspect ratio

editing the DVD menuYou can even take screenshots of the videos in the Setup Source Clips menu. In the DVD menu compiler you can arrange the position of the small pictures of the videos as DVD menu shortcuts and you can start converting all the video files into VOB DVD files – you will also be required to have a DVD blank disc in the DVD burner optical drive. The DVD Disc Burner gives you the option to burn on a DVD disc some files that are already or have been converted into the DVD VOB standard.

Applicability:
DVD builderYou can create DVDs and convert to VOB format from files like avi, rm (real media), wmv, asf, DivX, Xvid, rmvb, Quick Time (MOV),  Mpeg. It is quite useful as a simple tool for creating DVDs in a very easy way!

Pro(s): The nice looking interface along with the really well defined functions can help you create very nice DVD menus with custom sound track. You can even tweak the videos before adding them to the conversion process.

VOB converterCon(s): There are many other pieces of software that do similar tasks at a lower price, so you must be a fan of this program in order to select it for intensive usage. The trial limitation of 5 minutes for video encoding is not enough to convince the audience (I would suggest at least 10 minutes).

GeCube Launched the Radeon HD2900Pro Video Card

GeCube Launched the Radeon HD2900Pro Video Card

The new Pro series of Radeon HD 2900 video cards have been recently launched as AMD quietly announced them. The system requirements are the same as the ones for the XT version, but the Pro version has lower core and memory frequencies.

The first model of the series has 512MB GDDR3 and a 9-inch fansink, with 2 DVI-I to VGA adapters, an HDTV adapter, a native ATI DVI to HDMI adapter, one 9-pin VIVO adapter and a CrossFire bridge interconnect. The other card will feature 1GB of memory and the core clock frequencies might reach up to 742MHz. This move is aimed at the mainstream class as the price for the 512MB version will reach about $249 and $299 for the one with 1GB video memory.

GeCube Radeon HD2900Pro

The Radeon HD2900Pro from GeCube comes with 512MB DDR3 memory with 1024-bit memory Ring Bus, with the built in HDMI (that includes crystal clear quality video with up to 1080p resolution and 5.1 sound) and the support for Blu-ray and HD DVD playback support. The card is certified to meet the requirements for Windows Vista Premium and it comes with its own Dynamic Game Computing Technology. It supports HDR – High-Speed 128-bit (High Dynamic range) rendering and it offers physics processing support.

The latest Catalyst video driver brings among other things 24X custom filter Anti-Aliasing and plug-and play CrossFire (connecting two cards on a Crossfire Chipset enabled motherboard) support. The card will render wonderfully the new standard of HD videos and will offer display resolution up to 1900x1200 on a single DVI link or 2560x1600 o a dual DVI link. The dynamic acceleration geometry and the new tessellation technologies from the Radeon HD2900 cards help in bringing out the best visuals and the most realistic rendering of real objects or geographical areas: you can see in the “Whiteout Demo” the famous lady from Ati, Ruby, snowboarding in the mountains.

12Ghosts NotePad 8 Review

12Ghosts NotePad 8 Review

icon66.pngNotepad is probably the most notorious text editor in the world, and since its name really does ring a bell for almost every computer user, most companies that create new similar programs and slightly change this name, using at least parts of it. Programs like EditPad or Notepad++ are also well known, but finding another program called simply NotePad makes my wonder how come Microsoft didn't file a suit against 12Ghosts, the company that released it. Well, I guess they can always do that, but my only purpose today is to see how good or bad is this program, so let's go and check it out!

Setup

12Ghosts software's NotePad has reached its 8th edition, and if you want to know the entire version number, it's 8.0.11.4942, released on the 11th of January. The setup package of this program has 2.1MB in size, and installing it is a piece of cake, as you can see in the screenshots below.

Setup - First Screen

Setup - Second Screen
Setup - All Done

If you're wondering about the price, I won't keep you waiting and I'll tell you that NotePad is priced at $22, and the test version has a nag screen that comes back from time to time, and no other functional limitations, from what I've been able to notice.

Interface

Interface - The Main Window"Distaster" is too much, but "bad" is not enough to describe this program's interface. I know I may be too rough, but I thought the original Notepad from Microsoft was one of the easiest and most "un-friendly" text editors. Well, at least that one didn't produce any useless sounds, like this one... 12Ghosts' NotePad main window can be resized using the keyboard, and its interface allows you to easily manage multiple files, but it's really ugly, as you can see in the screenshot above, and I have nothing else to say about it.

Features

I am thinking about what to say about this program, and I really can't find much to say. First of all, NotePad is able to produce some really annoying sounds, but the good part is that you can simply mute all sounds by going to the Options menu and choosing to do so.

Other than that, I can tell you that this program is almost completely keyboard-driven, so shortcut freaks will surely love it more than I do, because I always want more from a text editor than just keyboard shortcuts. Anyway, the formatting options can be easily applied using shortcuts, and that's a plus.

Features - View Menu

Features - Format Options

Features - File Types Settings

During my brief experience with this program, I found some features to work really bad, like the Undo feature. The Options area has only some basic settings, although it seems to allow you enhanced control over the text editing tasks. There is no syntax highlighting, no HTML preview and no chance to use external tools with any open file inside NotePad, so off to the conclusions we go!

The Good

NotePad is as easy to use as the original Notepad, but that's all...

The Bad

There is no syntax highlighting, the interface is very bad, the amount of system memory used is pretty high, some features don't work as they should, and the program is really limited, considering its price and what competitors can offer for a similar amount of money.

Conclusion

I usually try to avoid programs from the "no way" category, but sometimes I simply run into them, and I think it's better this way. After all, I advise you not to do the same mistake, unless you really have a lot of time to spare, and you want to test your resistance to stress. I am not angry, but only disappointed, and that should say it all...
